Trigun I am quite capable of being inspired by a classic, especially one that I had never seen before. And that was definitely not the case with Trigun. Whether this was due to the anime adaptation or the content was actually so meager is difficult to judge as I don't know the manga. In any case, Trigun offers a very pleasant and initially interesting setting. And indeed towards the end a satisfactory resolution of events. The main problem with the work was the implementation and the characters. Story The basic idea with the desert planet and with the background of the events, which turns out at the end,is very interesting. The main storyline was solid in its approach.

However, everything in between has been implemented very weakly and sluggishly. You don't often come across such a low level of tension. The episodes that did not deal with the main plot are very difficult to watch. The main story, however, had its charm.

Animation / pictures

Designed with plenty of detail, if necessary. You put a lot more effort into the fights and the environment than you did with the characters. However, it is not wrong. The representation of the world is very successful and the fights had dynamic and mostly fluid animation for the standards of the time.

Characters

The protagonist initially looked mysterious behind his facade, nothing was made of it until the end, except for his background story. He remained a rather weak and boring protagonist until the very end, who only performed monotonously in the course of the plot. I can understand that the protagonists were deliberately given these naive and humorous character traits, but in the long run, they were just annoying. He doesn't take any of the situations very seriously, acts like a clown until he finally resolves the situation like a badass. So it went one after another. The two female protagonists could not even begin to prove themselves apart from mediocre comedy interludes. They've already been given the clown charisma and yet they couldn't even do it justice.
Some of the antagonists in the plot have been at least significant in terms of their actions and motivations.

Nicholas D. Woolfwood was by far the only character who could show any creativity. He was personable and also had personality.

Music

The intro serves its purpose, but is nothing special and musically not worth mentioning. The Osts, on the other hand, were able to underline some of the scenes quite well. The problem is that they were used too seldom, which made some episodes feel like a boring documentary in the desert.

Conclusion

I like Trigun and saw him as a newcomer to the anime scene 12 years ago. And now again to get a better picture of it. The series has its advantages and strengths, but also an enormous number of weaknesses. If it were to get a new adaptation nowadays, one could possibly use more potential.
