Hunter x Hunter (2011) is your next anime obsession—here’s 10 spoiler-free reasons why! Summary: To become a Hunter like his dad, 12-yr-old Gon braves the deadly Hunter Exam with medical student Leorio, vengeful Kurapika, and ex-assassin Killua—a motley crew tackling a wild, treacherous world! 1. Through well-written, multi-layered character arcs, Hunters chasing their dreams are preyed upon by their own doubts that creep in as unexpected situations expose their vulnerabilities and unintended consequences test their resolve. 2. It’s an immersive journey through the eyes of a radically open-minded protagonist as seemingly black/white conflicts turn grayer with each increasingly more complex life-or-death decision driving his destiny. 3. It’s a truepioneer in a genre that's plagued by power-ups portrayed as screaming showdowns that could pass as kidney stone passing contests. The reveal of how the power system works, how it fits into the world of the story, and how it is uniquely harnessed in different ways is truly a master class in Shonen writing.

4. While there are plenty of hype-worthy, well-choreographed fights, what's most exciting about this show is how it keeps the surprises coming and subverts your expectations as you watch competing interests intersect in a war of wills.

5. The story truly shines in its ability to portray realistic reactions to an unrealistic world in a way that conveys the most human of desires, emotions, and dreams in characters that, at first glance, seem to be the most inhuman.

6. The OST throughout the show is filled with bangers that will get you hyped up and make perfect additions to your workout playlist.

7. The animation is consistently well done throughout the show. While not necessarily groundbreaking in every episode like some other Shonen, the animation for climactic moments are praiseworthy spectacles.

8. While, the last major arc of the story is one of the longest arcs of any anime ever, the lack of filler prevents it from dragging on in a way that would frustrate those enjoying the show up to that point.

9. While the source material is still ongoing, this Anime adaptation resolves most of the major storylines established throughout the show and concludes in a cathartic way and leaves you wanting more!

10. Even after the anime, I’m still on the edge of my seat! Manga’s post-anime ride has me shook—Hunter x Hunter’s depth is unreal!
