Review of High School DxD

Tbh this was my first harem show. i was new to the genre and I still don't like it all that much. You can say it's not my cup of tea. One day my friend recommended this to me so I said why not? This anime has exceeded my expectations. And they were low expectations to be honest. But I found this very enjoyable and so good to look back into again. The premise is simple enough: Issei Hyoudou is a perverted high school student who gets hooked up with devil girls and your typical Harem thingy. But what I like most about this anime ismainly the MC: he doesn't shy away from showing that he is the pervert that he is. It added too much to the enjoyment of the show without feeling overburdened by it. The show also has impressive animation for the time and very good action scenes. And it is very self aware and embraces the tropes found in every other anime and that adds to the overall enjoyment of the show.

The characters are also good. Beside the MC there are a lot of girls (obviously) and the show explore their background one by one as it goes on. And pretty much every one of them is interesting enough to keep you invested in their story. Though I think Asia is the weakest by far as she's just annoying sometimes and her tropey character sometimes feel unbearable, but maybe that's just my taste.

The overall plot is... Decent to day the least. It is serviceable. A typical battle between demons and angels. But I would be lying if I said I mainly watched this show for the plot. It is for the raunchy fanservice and all that. And I can confirm it has good fanservice for the time and it still is to this day I'd wager.

Also this show (the first season) has a banger ED I still listen to it to this day. So catchy and addicting with good visuals that accompanies it.

Overall a fun watch and this is one of the few harem anime that I watched but I think it's the one of the best.
