Review of Natsume's Book of Friends
I'll tell you what, if you want a peaceful anime to partake in, this anime is the one for you. I always felt a tranquil feeling at the end of every episode. So, if you're a fan of anime like Bleach or Noragami, I think this is something you'll enjoy. As I said, it's a lot more laid back than those anime, but it does give off the same vibe that they do. One thing I think you'll get a lot of through this anime is some really great stories. Natsume spends his days helping these youkai, and because of that, a lot of lovely storiesget told. That, I'd say, is what this anime is best at.
Additionally, I love Natsume as a main character and how complexly he was written. You get to see a very compassionate character spread his kindness to everyone he can, and it's wonderful to watch.
The few, we'll say, "negatives" I have about this anime are simply that I wanted more expansion. Now, this seems like an issue that will be resolved in subsequent seasons, because this is an issue a lot of first seasons have. I want to see more about Natsume's background and upbringing to really get a sense for why he's so compassionate. Also, I'd like to see a continuous storyline crop up in the future because this season was, essentially, a new story for every episode. Lovely though they were, I'd like to see something a little more consistent.
Other than that, I think this anime is gonna be a great one for just about anyone. There's something fantastical about it, and yet, it comes with a serene calm. If you want to relax with something, please try out this anime, because I think it'll be just what you're looking for.
