Review of Fairy Tail the Movie: The Phoenix Priestess

The phoenix priestess is basically a mini fairy tail arc about the weirdest looking phoenix I've ever seen. It's a pretty alright story. The pacing is a bit fast since it's a movie but it's manageable all things considered. It doesn't neatly fit into the story of fairy tail and isn't mentioned anywhere before or after. The watch guide on reddit says to watch the movie after episode 226 which seems like a reasonable moment. There is also a prologue to this movie that I would recommend you watch after watching the first three minutes of the movie so it's nice and chronological. The charactersare the same as in the main anime with different side characters and pretty basic villains.

The animation was okay. The background looks quite nice but it often looks a bit different from the characters. Characters don't look good when they're far away but looked way better up close.

The music, sound and voice acting were all similar or the same as the main anime.

Overall this is a nice movie if you want to see more of fairy tail, it's just extra content that happens out of universe. If you like fairy tail enough to make it to episode 226 then you'll probably like this movie too.
