Review of The Ancient Magus' Bride
The starts on a sort of confusing and depressing point, and it's fairly mellow, but the world is quite interesting. The main character is interesting but her personality as a bit confused and depressed and hating of her life is a bit under played. The magic of the world is inspiring. The way that the spirits interact with the world is fun and it's harsher side is quite believable. There's a lot pulled from fairy tales and such, which makes it even more fun to watch. The odd character that is Elias is fun to try and parse, but honestly, while the showtries to go a little dark at points, it feels like it is pulling its punches.
Still, watching people become monsters as response to their situations is interesting. Instead of straight villains (in most cases) it's just the fey acting how their nature dictates (whether they want to or not) or people trying to deal with the situations their given to the best of their ability.
Still, there's a lot of sap. Like a lot. Still there are scenes that will absolutely take your breath away.
