Review of Devilman: Crybaby
Visually, there is nothing quite like Devillman: Crybaby, but whe n it comes to story the second half is kind of a mess. The animation style is totally unique and tthe is gory as all hell. The show feels like an ultraviolet OVA or anime movie from the 1980s but a bit more modern in terms of its production. I you want to some some absolutely crazy imagery and tons of gore, this show will satisfy your every need. The characters are simple, but have some form of character arc. However, the story really goes off the rails during the second half as the storytries to become this dramatic epic filled with biblical allegories. The emotional parts were mostly effective, but it feels like they condensed 10+ episodes of material into the last 5. Also, the villian is pretty terrible and the fact that the main character is friends with him, makes the main character look pretty bad. Overall, Devilman: Crybaby is a visually unique show with a banging soundtrack that should satisfy even the most dfie hard fans of action and ultraviolence. Just be wary of some significant problems in terms of story and pacing.
