Review of A Place Further Than The Universe
I didn't want to watch it in lockdown. 2020 sucks we're all feeling like we're in a slump and I sure am, it's horrible and I really don't want to get into it considering how this anime is from 2018. Anyway, I watched the first episode and had put this anime on hold. I knew what it was about, I was saving it for the times when I run out of "good anime", but man I couldn't (I don't think I'll ever run out of good anime, that was foolish of me). We have all been there, some still are (including me). Our youth is not inmotion and it's terrible.
As soon as I watched episode two, and the OST "Sora Wo Miagete" played, with the amazing running scene, I knew this was going to be much more than four girls going to Antarctica, and man it sure was. It exceeded my expectations exceptionally, in terms of story, characters, animation, and it was such a beautiful journey. Last episode hits so different; I cannot listen to the OST "Mata Ne" without crying. I didn't know how utter amount of mails, a girl counting all the money she had earned while naming each job she did, could move me to tears.
This anime makes you want to do something, put your youth into motion, go out, work for things you believe in, even if everyone around you makes fun of you. You'll amaze yourself when you feel like shouting "ZAMA MIROU (in your face)" like Shirase when she had reached Antarctica. I know, all this is very cliched, but I do believe that once in a while we can all use some reminders, especially when they are presented in this way.
