===================Minor Spoilers Ahead==================== My All-Time Favorite anime. I know it might seem kind of boring at first, but this anime is FAR different than many others out there of the same genre (If there even is a same genre). From 2018 to now, I have rewatched this show three times, and am currently on my fourth. I first watched this anime back while it was airing, and at first was pretty unimpressed because the plot just seemed dull and boring. Little did I know, it blossomed from there and became a beautiful masterpiece that I would cherish for my entire anime-watching career. The combination of InoriMinase, Yuka Iguchi, Saori Hayami, and Kana Hanazawa really fits the characters and though it may seem like an unlikely pairing, works out really well. The plot entails of 4 girls who try their best to overcome personal obstacles and the doubts of other people to eventually make it to Antarctica, A place further than the universe. In order to get to space, you travel 100 Kilometers straight up, but Antarctica is 14,000 Kilometers from japan, making it further from human contact than even outer space. Kimari, the "MC" of the series, has been having a very uneventful time in High school, and realizes this in her second year, so she works to try and find a change. Through this, she eventually runs into Shirase, who has been working her entire life to try and find a way to get to Antarctica and find her Mother, who had been missing from an earlier expedition when Shirase was just a child. Together, they run into Hinata, who, like Kimari, wants to make a change in her life and Yuzuki, who is a sheltered girl, forced my her mother to go on this expedition to recieve more fame and money. All four of them eventually find their way to spots on the expedition, which had been denying the girls for a long while, and go to Antarctica for a really big Feels trip. Overall, this anime made me fall back in love with Antarctica, and made me really want to have a big change in my life, as I have realized that I havent done anything adventurous or different for myself so far in life. I would rate this show a 20/10 if I could. It is just that great. To finish this review, here is a quote from the show that really summarizes the spirit and emotion in it. "yeah…this is what it is. Like anything could happen. Like I can make anything happen" - Mari Tamaki (Kimari).
