Review of Ping Pong the Animation
Ping Pong the animation is quite a unique sports and coming to age story. Honestly, the story is pretty normal, and if you've read enough stories, you would most likely know what was going on after episode 3. That said, the story isn't exactly important. It's more of the way the story is laid out and how characters get to the ending point. And it's pretty good. The art and sound are obviously amazing. OST and characters are very good, especially Peco's voice actor: spot on. Art is representative of Taiyou's artstyle (I looked up the manga), and looks great even when animated, despite beingcompletely different from standard and traditional art styles. Nothing to say about these two things. Just well made.
Really, the meat of the story is the characters and their progression. It's not that bad, but honestly, it's also not that great? Character personalities kind of go as they please, and a lot of the characters act very weirdly and randomly. Lots of focus is given to the wrong characters, but all in all, it's still fine. It's supported by great art and sound, so it passes.
Overall, its pretty good. I was a little disappointing with how characters progressed, which I really did think could have been more well made. Perhaps that's also just a distinct creative liberty Taiyou has, but it does not mean I have to like it, obviously. It's hard for a review to give this show justice. You should just go check it out, it's worth a watch.
