With the latest installment of this series, Kaguya-sama loses a bit more of its charm, both as a show and a character. The show starts off slow, with no progress to the plot, but picks up the pace once the culture festival kicks off and leads to an excellent finale. There's less wittiness and appeal to the main characters this season, but some of the side characters manage to pick up the slack, however Maki is a serious downgrade compared to the charisma you see in Miko and Chika. Shinomiya in particular is often reduced to a damsel hopelessly in love, and rarely do we get tosee her leverage her lofty intelligence and pedigree to solve situations.

If Season 1 was an even battle, where both Shinomiya and Shirogane are equal in tempo. Shinomiya is now almost a purely reactive character, rarely taking action herself.
