Review of Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro

I really wanted to love this anime, just like I do the manga, but it feels very incomplete. With Nagatoro's manga having almost 100 chapters (and still not being finished), it just didn't really make a lot of sense to me to make a seasonal anime based on the manga. This doesn't mean the anime is bad by any means, far from it, but it just feels like ending a story 1/4 of the way through, which makes sense considering that's exactly what happened. The story is good, just incomplete. The final episode doesn't really feel like a season finale, and it's missing some great chaptersfrom the manga.

The art is fine, personally I enjoy the artstyle from the manga more, with it having very thick, bold lines, but this works just as well and it's in color. Basically, I think the manga has more character with the artstyle, but I can't really complain about the art too much.

The sound is fine, I guess. Nothing really struck out to me that much, besides the absolute banger that is the OP. Sumire Uesaka did a damn good job of making the OP memorable, and I had that song stuck in my head for like 2 weeks after finishing the anime.

The characters are great, they're hilarious, distinct, and are easily the best part of the anime. However, if you're coming for the characters, just read the damn manga. It's absolutely hilarious and features way more of these great characters (and a crossover with Magical Sempai!!).

My enjoyment of this anime was pretty underwhelming. It might just be because I've already read the manga, but whatever.

Overall, I think it's a good anime, but I really would just recommend the manga. The manga is serious quality and if you enjoy it you should check out Nanashi's other work (that's a joke, unless you like monkey rape hentai).
