Review of Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story

I would like to begin this by saying that despite taking place in the same universe as Madoka, with the same power system (up till stuff later in the anime), this is absolutely a different anime. If you were expecting the same flavour of surprise and awe from Madoka, you'd likely find yourself amazed with how different it feels. The change in direction felt refreshing and definitely felt like they were trying to go for a new angle. The art, plot, and characters were pretty great. Additionally, I think how the mystery doesn't lean too heavily on Madoka's main plot gives this show a fresh identity.Sure, I think that there are some flaws with the show, overall it is certainly a side story to Madoka. In fact, I wish that we had more of the "slower" moments with the characters, which was something Madoka didn't really have the time for.
