Review of Haibane Renmei

It's hard to think of any anime that's had a bigger emotional impact on me. I watched Haibane renmei when I was very young, around the time I made this account. I didn't think much of it at first, perhaps because I didn't see myself in the characters, or because I didn't see how they reflected real relationships with real people. When I say see myself in these characters, I don't mean that I'm self-inserting in the story, I mean they're relatable, they feel real. Every story beat, every moment with every character, they're not some moe anime archetype, they're not some over the top fantasykawaii. They're people learning to deal with grief and ego, like everyone else. Overall, it's a 10/10. hard to deny it has flaws but Haibane renmei makes up for the flaws in what it does right.
