Tokyo Revengers

Review of Tokyo Revengers

I have mixed feeling about this anime to the point that I felt like writing my first ever review on MAL. Tokyo Revenge tells the story of a delinquent kid who became a shut-in as an adult. After dying, that shut-in travels 12 years ago back in time. Coincidentally he discovers that he can always back and forth between his delinquent youth and the future where he died (and eventually got saved after his first past alteration). It's not an easy task to tell a coherent time travel story, but what really frustrated me is that the MC after each time travel had no idea about itscurrent whereabouts.

The story about the Tokyo Manji gang and its members is quite decent and interesting at times, but the time jumps and the complete disconnection of the MC with what happens around him is really infuriating.

For the rest it's as the other reviews say. The MC is naive and solves every problem in a linear fashion through the power of friendship. Some decisions make no sense (there's an obvious enemy who got free reins to do what he wants despite being identified quite early as a threat by MC and other members of the gang).

A fine watch if you're into:
* Street fights
* OP Fighters
* Japanese delinquent stuff
* Naive MC whose sole power is that of friendship.

Definitely do not watch if you're:
* A time travel purist
* Cringing at the idea of watching 24 episodes of a Naive MC whose sole power is that of friendship
* not into slow paced stories
