Cap Revolution Bottleman · review
I genuinely think the other two people in this review section might be plants...? Normally, I'd say an anime like this was blatant product advertisement, but from watching it alone I can't even ascertain what it would be advertising. A functionally unplayable game? ...The concept of bottle caps? ...Soda??? The game is nonsensical; the protagonist is so stupid I don't understand how I'm supposed to believe he'll succeed; the dub is both awkwardly written and awkwardly delivered; and as for the plot, I've watched 8 episodes so far and I don't think we've actually made any progress, so I don't know how the next 17 episodes couldpossibly be enough to accomplish anything of note.
In terms of strong points, it doesn't have much. The dub is occasionally funny. It's very colorful. Occasionally, the animation is expressive. Other than that, it mostly has sheer absurdity going for it. I don't really think that's enough to support two hours of content, but Gaina clearly did. How this anime got a second season might just be one of this world's greatest mysteries.
If you're looking for something to watch and laugh at with friends, I'd say Bottleman does make for a pretty good pick. Otherwise, you'd probably be better off watching Yugioh or Digimon.
