I like the seme since the prequel story, so I'm glad we get this story. I think the narrative fleshes him out well, both the parts covered in Hachi and the new parts covered here. Both the seme and the uke are interesting characters, and the dynamic between them are as engaging as it is hilarious. That being said, the romance part.... I feel the 'get the second ML a new love STAT' vibe too much from it. While the story sure tries its best not to make the relationship here any less than the one in Hachi, and it even takes an entirely different dynamic tocreate a different plotline as opposed to 'making a replacement'....
It still doesn't sit that well with me.
The romance still feels a bit too rushed, a bit too forced, a bit too whirlwind romance especially compared to the relationship in Hachi. The ones there was portrayed with much more nuance, meaning, and care, precisely because it was interwoven with friendship. This one...doesn't.
A bit sad, because this could be done really well.
