L-Gaim is somewhat similar to Ideon and Victory - it's nothing happening for 40 episodes, then anime remembers it's about to end and things begin to happen. Daba is closest thing to Gary Stu in mecha: he is noble, always right, everyone is either infatuated with him or jealous of him. The two main female characters join his rebellion only because they fell in love with him and L-Gaim repeats the same joke of them fighting over Daba while the man himself completely ignores it. Gavlet Gablae is the only good character in the show, despite being a rival. He is multifaceted, his goals are clear andsimple, and he experiences growth through out the show.

The mech designs are cool and both openings are bangers but that's it.
