Review of Akira

Akira is a true masterpiece in the anime genre. The film takes place in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo, where a young biker named Kaneda and his friend Tetsuo become embroiled in a government conspiracy involving a powerful psychic named Akira. While the screenplay might not be the strongest in terms of plot, it does a great job of creating sympathy for the protagonists. As the film progresses, you begin to understand the characters' pasts and the environment they grew up in, which makes it easier to feel empathy towards them. The characters are complex and multi-dimensional, and the relationships between them are well-written. Kaneda and Tetsuo's friendshipis particularly noteworthy, as it is both tragic and self-destructive. The film also has a strong emotional core, making it all the more impactful when the characters' lives are turned upside down.
