Review of Neon Genesis Evangelion
H is Neon Genesis Evangelion stands for happiness [read the full review][ps the spoiler parts have been marked] So here I am, writing review for any anime i watched so many times i cant remember, this show shapes and you can rightfully call me and fan boi, but trust me this is a very unbiased review. And am gonna point out the flaws first [Cons/Negatives] 1. Evangelion is pretty boring not gonna lie, unlike other psychological anime like code geass or Deathnote it doesn't keep you hanging and bitting your nails in gripping suspense, But it has gripping parts just too far in between. 2.The main character Shinjiis a spineless wussy, he so pathetic at times it will definitely tic off viewers that like OP and perfect MCs and[mild spoiler] he doesn't get very perfect or badass even towards the end of the series, PS none of the characters are likable (but that's the point of the show, realistic portrayal)
3. You need to watch till ep 16 to get the real blood of the show, your normal 6episodes trial period will miserably fail.
4. This anime is definitely not for the masses, if you like sweet cuddly romance cool action through n through, perfectly paced story and hate depressing stuff dont watch it getting disappointed then bad mouthing it!
(not really a flaw but animation is inconsistent at times, but since Gainax was low on cash that time please excuse it)
[Pros/Positives]
even after reading my negatives if your still reading, ik you'll love it
1. This is not an anime its a piece of history, its so influential when you watch you'll be like "so did this anime took inspiration from here , damn". if you call yourelf an anime fan u gotta watch it at some point.
/history lesson aside/
2. Its not a anime, it a lesson of what to be and what not to be this anime will throw so much deep psyco-philosophical messages, the show will make you think and think you will, what did Hideaki Anno imply and after u watch the show you definitely will take some time to reflect on the good and the bad things that happened to you. come sweet existential crisis!
3.The characters are very unlikable how is this a positive am coming, tho extremely unlikable they are pretty realistic far from the perfect main cast most anime have, their struggles are extremely relatable and we all will see a reflection of ourselves in the MC, that makes the show so great.
4. It is not an ordinary mecha,(tldr its a mecha parody) i mean if u hate mecha show its still gonna appeal
to you the mechs are very different, they are so humanoid in their movement so over powered yet so weak, they almost feel like they are living creatures[fans know that part is ironic], the fights are action packed yet not stretched, longest action scene was just approx 7 mins not 7episodes.
5. It has a amazing original soundtrack its OP Cruel Angel's Thesis one of the top 10 ops where ever you check, it also has classics like fly me to the moon(not in Netflix version) and Beethoven's 9th symphony!

5. I have seen people saying why the pilots are 14 year old with trust issues, firstits cause their awkwardness reminds us of all the embarrassing and mistakes we committed at that age, but why mentally issued kids? well their walls in hearts that signify the At field, thats why they pilot the eva cause their impregnable walls of distrust is what represents the AT field so they need kids with trust issues,(this was a explained not really a spoiler) but why shinji? its explained and i dont wanna spoil.
