So, I believe this show suffers from a story that could have used another go-through before completion. It really is it's greatest weakness. By no means bad, it's in every way a simple if complete story, where the journey really is the wonderful spectacle showcasing some powerful action, fun character dynamics aaaand... a pretty useful Rosebud-lady that fills the role of getting our two swordsmen together. Because, they really are this show's main characters. The girl is unfortunately left with stringing these guys along by debt of gratitude whilst not contributing a whole lot. Sure, a gag here of there, but the only female in thestory is pretty much a stereotyped airhead female. Which is unfortunate, since there is some potential for growth and change within the story itself, especially considering that's precisely what happens to the two relevant thirds of this main cast.

That aside, it really is a roller coaster. Just like with Cowboy Bebop (seems relevant to mention since I believe the two shows were directed by the same guy) music is a heavy influence. It doesn't work out quite as cult-like as Bebop's jazzy blues as the hiphop is a bit too anachronistic for the time period to perfectly fit in the grooves. But it's still mostly pretty good, especially if you view it with a sense of humor for the eclectic.

Now, with those two weaknesses out of the way - I believe it's a show worth watching. If you feel unsure, go onto Youtube and look up the OP video for the show. If you like it, the show will be thrill for you.

If not, well, there's always Sword of the Stranger!
