Review of The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya

I really disliked the series, especially the second season. I found myself bored at the lack of character development and plot progression, since everything that happened after the first half of the first season didn't matter. It felt repetitive and trivial. Yet, the movie is completely different. There is an actual story and a real serious conflict that needs to be solved. I really wish the series was more like this. Although some suggest that you watch the first 2 seasons, if you don't particularly enjoy the show, I would say that you can easily stop watching the show after the 1st half of the 1stseason and then watch this movie. All the important and relevant plot points happen there and its all thats really needed. If you do like the show, feel free to watch all of it. For me though, the movie was much better than any part of the series. I really think the main character develops more in this movie than he does in the entirety of the two seasons, and the conflict he goes through is much more interesting. It's a pretty good anime movie.
