Review of Durarara!!
For the most part, Durarara is highly ambivalent in its themes. You have no idea which way things are going - if it's taking a slice of life route, turning into supernatural sci-fi or becoming a psychological thriller. It does this so well through developing disparate facets of society via its microcosm of characters who seemingly share nothing in common. Honestly, I dropped the show multiple times over then span of 4 years before I eventually watched it all. Because I had never watched it the whole way through, nothing had really clicked for me - there wasn't a whole lot of didactic storytelling goingon. However, now that I've finished it, I can say it deserves more recognition for its world-building and unconventional plot points.
Praying Netflix finds this gem and turns it into a live action.
