Review of Detroit Metal City
spoiler free review Story: 9/10 For a comedy show, the premise is just right: an innocent sweet young man who listens to Swedish pop goes to Tokyo and becomes the lead singer of the most popular death metal band in Japan. If just the idea seems incredibly amusing, imagine the anime! The story is amusing and very enjoyable. It is a bit forced at time, but the humor used in this anime is absolutely amazing. The dialogue, the awkward situation that characters are put into, the visuals, all of them make up a good comical story that you will laugh you ass of at. Art: 5/10 This art fits the anime verywell, but it is not outstanding or beautiful. It is a different kind of artwork, a type I do not quite enjoy.
Sound:
10/10
It may not be a great soundtrack, but oh boy, it fits this anime so well. The ending theme and the opening theme are so different from each other, mirroring the two sides of the main character, Negishi. And I enjoyed the DMC songs, even though death metal is not my cup of tea.
Character:
10/10
Surprisingly enough, I loved all characters because most of them have some sort of character development, even though the anime is mostly focused on Negishi, the main character. Involuntarily and voluntarily, he helps the other characters grow as people, while he barely changes, even though he goes through difficult times in this anime. And I gotta say, they portray the death metal fans as some of them are in reality, which is one of the aspects that makes this anime so great and much more than a simple comedy anime.
Enjoyment:
10/10
DMC is a great anime, that makes you laugh every episode, while developing a great story, so it is extremely enjoyable.
Overall:
8/10
It is indeed a great anime that should not be missed by any comedy fan, and not only.
