Review of School Days

Years ago when I first saw School Day I hated the show. But as I got older, I came to the conclusion that I had it wrong and it better than I realize. To start off, the characters are unrealistic dumbasses but remember they are horny high schoolers. I pretty sure we all know someone like Makoto in our life at one time or another. Hell full grown adult still gets into shit like this all the time. Compare this other high school romance anime with a similar story, the portrayal of what going to happen is more realistic. The storydoes drag on from time to time. Even so, it does present the theme and tone that it tries to capture. Change teen to young adult, high school to university or an office, and many of the issues would be more forgiving. But for the time it was made, it is above most anime in its genre.

Overall: Is it good or is it bad? Personally, I think it's more good than bad and I enjoy it. But it's not for everybody. If your here for a typical harem, this is NOT for you. In many ways, School Day is a cautionary tale with a helping of coming-of-age about relationship and responsibility. It funny to think that it has more of a message than similar anime back when it air and the years since. School Day is still worth watching today. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Note: Watching it now, with more relationship experience, made me appreciated and enjoy it more. I would say to those who dislike it to watch it again. You might like it now just like me.
