Review of Convenience Store Boy Friends

The first thing that caught my eye was obviously the art. I didn't care what the plot was about and thus didn't bother reading the synopsis while being prepared for the typical romcom cliches. I was really disappointed.. Animation and direction was lacking and often times just weird and awkward with long pauses, silent situations, random scenes that made no sense and/or came out of nowhere. The plot was really boring (often times) and misleading from what we are first introduced to as viewers. We are also introduced to what seems like 6 possible love interests (couples) but really only follow the two main and confirmedones.
It was a shame to introduce such a cast and not explore them or develop them.

That first scene running over to the convenience store to supposedly "start everything" really got me but it wasn't what I was expecting and just went downhill from there. We don't actually get to see them develop from there but instead the story decides to take us a step (but really way before they even meet) back.
First off; we barely follow (at least until the end of the anime) the couple we are introduced to in the first scene.
Secondly; we lose the focal point of the important of a convenience store until around episode 10.
Lastly; there doesn't seem to be much character development (or is really shallow) which doesn't make you relate much even though the topics of interest should be simple enough.
Overall production is below average 4/10.

BUT

I fell for the art at first glance and really need to give props to that. The animation didn't bring out the fullest potential of it but it was still a blast to see the different outfits and facial expressions of the characters (nice choice of fashion Oo) +1
The story was obviously really cliche but that's what made it too cute and easily approachable +1

All in all, it was easy to follow along because of the youthful romance but I really didn't feel like understanding and even less following their story.

I still think it's worth a watch but will not recommend. 6/10
