The story of Gangsta was a new and refreshing ride as far as anime goes. The delving into "gangsta" activity, mob behavior, pimping, and other sorts of crime felt new, and not simply there just for coolness factor, but actually a pretty decent attempt at World building I quite enjoyed. Throughout the anime, the art and direction was solid, not ground breaking, but consistently of good quality, and the music did it's purpose I suppose. I did enjoy the opening but don't remember much else. As far as character goes, I really did like the main cast. There wasn't an insanely high emotional connection, but Idid legitimately care to learn of their pasts and futures. I felt that the presence of a character who is def and use of sign language was also well done, with clear attention to detail and voice acting. The characters were cool, and a pleasure to watch as well.

Now for the criticisms after all that I just said. I give the story a 5 and the overall anime a 6 for the exact same reason. THERE IS NO ENDING. I mean that the story simply stops in the middle of it all. There is no actual attempt at a conclusion, it's more like all of a sudden the next 40 episodes got lost. The way character backstories and narratives were handled was interesting, and well done, IF the story would have continued. But given it's abrupt "ending" they are simply left feeling underdeveloped and sporadically done. If there was a legitimate continuation I could see myself giving this anime a solid 8 to weak 9, but this anime screamed read the manga by the end, so if the story still interests you, I would suggest doing just that, though I have yet to do so, I do intend to.
