Review of Black Clover
History/Scenario: The story is quite classic of the genre, a simple but effective scenario. We find ourselves in a world governed by magic, each one possesses more or less powerful powers. Some use them in their daily lives and the most powerful make them the basis of their profession. We will follow Asta and Yuno, two teenagers who were raised in an orphanage and who wish to become Knight-Mage, protectors of the kingdom, see Emperor-Mage, the highest level placed. The concern being that Asta has no power and it is this point that will put a little originality in the series. Having a character withoutmagic in a magical universe makes the scenario more attractive. We will follow its evolution, as well as that of Yuno and some other characters. They are all pretty endearing but not developed enough and especially some swim in clichés. The medieval-magical universe works well here, the concept of magic and clans is well brought. The narrative arches are more and more interesting, it is very well rhythmic, everything follows quickly, we do not get bored for a single second. There is a lot of action and the humour is well balanced. Only the first part seems so long and the characters are sometimes annoying. Overall everything works, but there is a taste of already and cruel lack of originality.
Music/Sound: The soundtrack is pretty good.
Visual/Realisation: It’s pretty as animated, the design is not too bad, the combat and action scenes are good.
Actor/Dubbing: Some dubbing is very good, others a little less. It will be necessary to note the dubbing of Asta which is quickly unbearable, he starts to shout every 2 seconds.
Review: Clearly, it is a good animator but that does not bring anything new, the universe is good, the rhythm is good, waiting for the continuation.
Episode 30 to 51
These new episodes are in line with the previous ones but overall we improve everything. In clear, the arcs scenari interesting, a real global red thread is felt with the evil eye of the twilight. The anime focuses more on Asta as well as her company, especially Noelle. We learn a lot about the past of the characters, about the relationships in them, which creates a certain consistency. The universe sees itself more solid and richer. Quite a lot of action scenes, well placed humor, everything works well. We don’t have time to breathe. Level realization, it is better and better, with some very pretty scenes; the music is better interpreted. Let’s see where this show will lead us with these next episodes.
Episode 52 to 85
This new burst of episodes follows the different arcs that can be more or less interesting. We stay in classic, we won’t be surprised but at least we’re not bored except for a few episodes. Here, Asta becomes again the center of attention even if the animation allows itself to develop other characters and put them forward. Besides, we will meet many new faces, new places .... What enriches the universe. It is rather level achievement that this fishing, animation has become very average globally see very poor, same for music. Some scenes are really ugly visually.
