I rarely give things the time of day to re-watch them, and when I do, I usually don't appreciate them as much as I remembered, but Parasyte is an exception to that. This was one of the first anime I watched, so I was expecting my opinion of it to be diminished after revisiting it two years later, however, I still thought it was a great watch. Given that this was put out by MADHOUSE, one of the biggest anime studios out there, I guess that shouldn't be much of a surprise, as they rarely put out any junk. Subjectively, Parasyte does most things verywell. The story and concept are very original, as is the art. The action and animation are very fluid, and it is clear a lot of effort went into that area. The only shortcoming I noticed animation wise was an overuse of CG crowds, but they were always in the background and there was never anything all that offensive. Some people have complained about the soundtrack for the dubstep element, and while I agree that it is not always the most suited to some of the scenes in Parasyte, it is at the very least different from the average action soundtrack. The characters in Parasyte are about as realistic as you could ask for in a Sci-Fi anime, and seem to have believable motivations. If you haven't seen this show already, and you don't mind a bit of edge with your anime, do yourself a favor and watch this show. It's not a bad starting point for those who don't watch anime either.
