Review of Hyouka

This is kinda hard one. Hyouka is somehow special but not exactly what I've been expecting. At the start I have to say, it's really fancy mystery anime. You can find some clues to some mysteries yourself and indeed, how the story goes forward, you can analyze some mysteries on your own. Basically is there group of friends "running" around the school and solving different types of mysteries. Around their schoolmates, their school, their free time or even around their group or teachers. For me, personally, the anime was really really difficult to start with. The beginning isn't that fancy and there is basically no chemistry betweenthe main characters. However, that changes during the whole anime and in the end, it isn't bad at all.

Mysteries are fancy but again, those at the beginning are rather boring. I had to start this anime 3 times in the span of a year. That's how boring the start was, at least for me.

On the other side, the slice of life theme is created in a really fancy and realistic way. There are random events, random talks and it feels really fresh. Sometimes you have the feeling you are part of some school club and talking with some remote friends.

Overall, this isn't a typical mystery anime I would like however, if those first initial episodes are boring for you, it's actually possible you will enjoy the rest, if you like mystery or slice of life anime. MC is really enjoyable and has really relatable mood "If I don't have to do it, I won't, if I have to, I will do it quickly with a minimum energy". Which is something I can share with this anime sometimes.

If you are a person like me, who didn't know whether to start this anime or not and the first episodes are a bit boring, give it a chance. It probably isn't the best anime ever made but it's enjoyable.
