Review of Dororo

This is probably one of the most intense animes I have ever seen. It's such a hidden gem, I wish more people were talking about it. First of the all, the storyline is incredible. It was a bit confusing in the first couple episodes, but that honestly made me want to watch it more. The voice acting (Both the dub and the sub are fantastic, whichever you watch you will love) is also incredible. The raw emotion you get from Hyakkimaru is incredible, especially when you consider how few lines he has. Another thing that stood out to me was the art and animation styleIt's gorgeous, but not in the way that a show like Demon Slayer or JJK is. The movements are a lot more fluid and there's less realistic detail, but I think it really works in this case. I think I watched the entire show in like 3 days because I was just so captivated every single episode.
The only sort of warning I would say going into this show is that there are A LOT of really disturbing and intense scenes. They really don't shy away from the gruesome aspects of what's going on, which makes a lot of scenes real tough. It also doesn't hesitate to bring up a lot of the more dark topics of the time period; prostitutions, the psychological trauma of war, is it worth sacrificing one for the greater good, etc. I really liked how they showed all these kinds of things, but just a warning for anyone who maybe isn't expecting that or is triggered by some of those things (The website Doesthedogdie is a great resource for knowing exactly what kinds of triggers are in the show).
Overall I'd say this show was an absolute insane trip to watch. If you're into more darker shows or enjoy that kind of supernatural historical fiction, this is great watch. I'm really glad I decided to give it a go!
