Review of ReLIFE
On the face, it seems like a pretty mediocre anime. The soundtrack and animation are nothing special. The premise just seems like anime seventeen again. However, the writing and character development were well executed and had me entirely engaged. The main character, Arata, is relatable and charming. One thing I did take issue with is that Arata is technically not a NEET... He was employed at a convenience store. This may just be a cultural issue that I don't understand since I am not Japanese, but I do consider that to be a real job. However he did seem to be in a stagnant pointin his life, so I guess the point of ReLife for him was to get him out of this plateau.
The story centers around Arata's experience going back to highschool, but it's also very much about his classmates and his efforts to help them overcome their teenage awkwardness. At points it drags a bit, because I didn't care as much about the stories of the side characters that didn't involve Arata, but it does come back to him at the end. It is 100% worth finishing.
