God's Gambit · review

The start was a regular "summoned to another world" with "area" and "unit" incorporated making the premise of the "Game". This sets up the end game for the story pretty early on which is, as you probably have guessed, uncovering what the "Game" really is. The title was a bit misleading as even the "gods" who was later revealed as the "players" most of the time wasn't really "gods" but "units" who have reached the end of their development. Other than that, the characters are developed in good ways but you can tell that the author leans too much on "good" than "bad". Moreover, the pacingwas too fast leaving less room to further develop each character. What I find more fascinating though is the "game" design, which was reasonable and even incorporated "bugs" that game developers often misses and that players unexpectedly find. It's a story that you can finish in one sitting, no more no less and is just right.
P.S: The story's ending is a bit disappointing, it's open ended and there's a setup left for a possible sequel.
