This review may discuss plot details.

This manga is like watching a car crash. You want to look away, but your eyes can't tear themselves away from the wreckage. This manga follows Tsubaki, a 10-year-old boy who has an innocent crush on his 17-year-old neighbor, Yuu. The premise of this manga is unusual. Everything was fine at first, but what kept me reading was its beautiful art style and the dynamic between the two main characters. Initially, it's very sweet and has a sibling-like feel. Tsubaki and Yuu have grown up together. More or less since Tsubaki was 4 and Yuu was 10 or 11. In the first few chapters, wesee how their days go by, how they spend their time playing and making memories together. It's sweet, though a little strange, that Yuu, a high school student, chooses to spend most of his time with an elementary school child.

The 10-year-old boy, even younger than he is now, had given Yuu a scar while playing with him—one of those scars that never fades. From that moment on, he vowed to always take care of Yuu and "take responsibility" for having "broken" him. After reflecting on what he did and talking to a teacher, she told him to love his friend very much and to be responsible, obviously not in the way Tsubaki took it.

Tsubaki is a flat character; he has nothing of his own, barely any personality. All his decisions revolve around Yuu. He's spent his whole life telling Yuu he loves him, and Yuu has always responded that he loves him too, perhaps because he saw it as brotherly love or something like that.

Everything was fine until Yuu started questioning whether Tsubaki's feelings for him were real. Tsubaki had the idea that they were dating and had started telling the boys at school that she had a boyfriend. For his birthday, Yuu invited Tsubaki to an amusement park, and they ended up kissing. This kiss was prompted by Tsubaki, who at the time thought of it as a date.

At first, I thought everything was fine, ignoring the age difference. After the kiss, everything changes. Yuu starts taking Tsubaki and his feelings a little more seriously. Yuu even tells one of his school friends about the kiss, and the strange thing is, his friend didn't find it odd at all! He laughed about it.

Tsubaki becomes friends with two people in his class: a girl who has a crush on him and a boy whose mother is a novelist. Since arriving, the one with the novelist mother has been putting strange ideas into Tsubaki's head, like how he should do "lewd stuff" with Yuu to win him over. Why would one child suggest that to another? It's very strange.

Later, Yuu accepts his feelings for Tsubaki, and while he's aware that their age difference isn't right, he prefers to wait until Tsubaki is older. That's why he doesn't reject him so directly. Later in the manga, Yuu focuses on his studies, which means he spends less time with Tsubaki and more with a boy his own age who is his tutor. Even though Yuu constantly thinks about Tsubaki and is sad about the distance, his tutor ends up developing a crush on him, even though he knows there's someone special for Yuu. And when he finds out who that special someone is, I'm surprised that he doesn't find it WEIRD that it's a primary school boy.

He even tells Tsubaki they're rivals now, and then reveals his feelings for Yuu and asks her not to tell anyone. ARE WE CRAZY OR WHAT?! If I knew my crush was in love with someone from elementary school, especially with the age difference, I'd stop liking him. What's more, it seems a bit unusual for him to tell a kid they're rivals, but he doesn't seem to be that bothered. The friends Yuu has already told about Tsubaki's behavior and all that, DON'T SEEM TO CARE AT ALL ABOUT THE AGE DIFFERENCE ????

This manga is garbage. Many of the chapters are short, so you'll read it all in a couple of days. But it's not worth wasting any time on it. If you want to read some decent BL, read annything else.
