Hello, just felt like dropping a comment on this series, after me myself was mislead into it. I started reading it expecting an interesting story with twists, contradictions, exciting investigations, considering the two protagonists being one a yakuza and the other a policeman. Their relationship seemed to have an interesting base to start from, but I clearly didn't understand what was actually planned by the author. I'll be short: if you expect romance, don't read it. If you expect your typical bl, don't read it; there's clearly nothing bl about it. No touches, no clear showing of feelings, no hint at any love story.It's literally bromance.

Maybe starting from volumes 11-12 the author dwelles more into their "love", showing it in the form of very tiny crumbs. You understand that MAYBE love is there, but the affection borders on brotherly protection. The emotions stay very hidden and somehow restrained in both characters. I wouldn't even label it bl because the whole time I was never capable of feeling anything between the two. No yearning, no hesitant reaching of one another, no situations of crisis that pushed them to even slightly consider starting a love affair. It's all in the air and in glimpses, but it lands very dry.

My point is not just this though; all the investigating, with Shirou on the yakuza side and Ichiro on the police one, aren't that interesting to me. Not even that was able to compensate the dryness of it all. I tried to invest myself at least in that aspect but it fell flat. Maybe someone appreciates such a story and doesn't need anything to happen between them, but it's not my case. Platonic is great if done so accordingly, without labeling it as a genre that it is not. That's why my rating is 4: it really disappointed me that the story didn't progress much over time. It became truly boring. Hope this helps. ⭐
