Review of Horimiya

Now Horimiya isn't really that bad of a show. It's just that it could've been much better. The first 6 episodes are something I genuinely enjoyed but then... They decided to focus on the side characters and they were extremely bad. In fact, if you take out the main characters then the show deserves a rating in the negatives. Absolutely bland, shallow and downright uninspiring characters really killed the show for me. I have seen my fair share of "badly" written characters but characters with little to 0 effort put in them is what Horimiya has accomplished. Like I said, I really liked the main characters. Ifboth of them share a great chemistry then I am all for it and that's exactly what they did. It was a pretty simple story but hey what's enjoyable is enjoyable.

As for how I've been keep talking about side characters being written with no efforts, here's an example:

In the first or second episode they introduced this character called Remi which was sort of a troublemaker type. They wrote her like that that would actually make the viewers angry towards her. So, what happens after all the trouble? Nothing. She just blend in with the main characters like the past didn't exist. They're best buds. Everything's normal. Ugh?? First the show tells you how she's the dull type then the show immediately proceeds to tell you how "Amazing" she actually is.

Another absolutely gutter trash character was Yuki. If Yuigahama's whining from Oregairu is an art then this bitch is the Picasso of it. The embodiment of "want this and that but will never make an effort to do anything about it and then acts as the victim". Dumb fuck author tried their hardest to make the viewers feel sorry for this sad fuck. Well, NO. But in the end, things just worked out for her as well even though she still barely did anything and the girl who was actually putting effort into things got an L.

It's so bad that the show that had such a great start just fell flat on its face by the end
