Review of Horimiya
I set high expectations and low expectations. This is rare but this anime was well below my low expectations. If it wasn't for the art, easily would have been like a 2 star for me. Characters are meh, there were so many times I thought Hori was just a crappy person. Some extreme insecurities that leads to way too much jealousy in a not so healthy way, and it is a little sad having miyamura stay with her despite the toxic traits presented throughout the anime. There was just a bit too many side characters. And that is what really made this anime enjoyable. After about4-5 episodes thats it for hori and miyamura. The story starts focusing way too much on the side characters. Not sure what they were going with that, but it disappointed me. Especially all the awkward love triangles, felt a little forced. The only good thing about all the attention to side characters was the bromance. Which this anime had a lot of moments about it, almost to the point of being a comedic bromance anime and not a a standard romance.
If you notice, which you probably did or will, the arts is amazing BUT there are those reallllly weird shots where a characters eyes are very misshaped, or the face looks like like some wacky 5th graders geometry homework. Ending and Opening were so meh, especially the opening, make the anime seem like it could of had potential of something a little deeper. Which it does with miyamuras past, but that was never looked into too much.
I dont know man, this was really disappointing with the horrendous plot. I really wannted a cute romance anime not an anime where its like a whole new anime every 2-3 episodes.
Came back to edit this, I realized after miyamura cut his hair, thats when his and horis story just faded away for the story to quickly grab onto all the side characters, almost literally creating them, the main characters, to be side characters to the side characters.
