Review of Ya Boy Kongming!
This is breath of fresh air! In times were many anime just rely on tropes and the characters seem interchangeable, an reverse isekai with a amazing premise stands out. Paripi Koumei is that and it sticks the landing. If you love music like me you will absolutely love this. Because the production, the OST, the opening and the ending slap. This is obviously really important for an music anime. Eiko, the protagonist, is a musician with big hopes and dreams, Kongming an tactician out of ancient China helps her to achieve them in hilarious and heartwarming way. the characters: Eiko is an amazing character. I really enjoy seeing awoman in an anime who isn't overly sexualized. She is an nuanced character, with highs and lows. But what I personally believe to be most important: You understand why her music inspires the people around here. The development she goes thru can be understood, because it gets reflected in the music. You actually see the development because of her music.
Just to make this clear. This isn't the deepest story, but it doesn't need to be. It starts out using the same episode structure multiple times in the beginning, but when it would become boring it changes it up and tells a deeper story about Eiko finding herself to become the musician she aspires to be.
If you want to have fun watch this!
Because Paripi Koumei is just pure enyoyement.
