Review of Taisho Otome Fairy Tale

If you're looking for a cute and pleasant watch, then Taishou Otome Otogibanashi fits the bill quite well. And while it was nice to see this in an animated form, the adaptation does not live up to the source material by any measure. The show doesn't include any of the depth and layers of character development or even some of the relationships that the manga expands on completely. Many of the darker themes are left out entirely in an effort to keep this a wholesome and light-hearted show. It almost feels like the show was "dumbed down" and it was quite disappointing to watch thelast few episodes knowing its wasted potential. The ending was mildly changed (for no good reason too, imo) and many of the events that really wrapped up the story had been left out. Despite this being a somewhat poor review though, I still wouldn't say it was a bad show. It was cute. But please do yourself a favor and read the manga. That is all.
