Review of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc

*Minor spoilers* This show is the definition of overhyped. It is a good show, don't get me wrong, but that is largely due to its amazing animation and action scenes. The story itself is just your typical battle shounen type, the characters have absolutely 0 depth and are relying on their one trope. In the case of Zenitsu and Inosuke it's the "haha loud = funny" trope which doesn't work at all. The great thing about this season was that Zenitsu was actually asleep for a few episodes which made it a lot better. However, considering the first episodes of the season where he probably wasthe most annoying yet, it just balances out.

I can imagine fans of the battle shounen genre are absolutely drooling at the sight of this series because they have no idea what story and character depth are. The only times this show is enjoyable is when there is action. You have to give ufotable credit though, the animation is absolutely amazing. This does make me wonder though, if you remove the god tier animation, what is left? For me, nothing really. It would be very hard to enjoy considering it has a mediocre story and tropy characters.

Bottom line though, this show is just "good". Not great, definitely not a masterpiece, but not bad either thanks to it being carried by its animation.
