I am simply giving Fairy Tail a higher ranking since personally speaking it tickled my taste. Their memorable adventures, its comical and comedic aspects, my personal attachment to its characters for their development and backstories. So, this review will be a little biased as it emphasizes Fairy Tail's positive aspects. However, first of all, I agree to its plots' readable and predictable patterns. I agree also that it has its plot armor, where the characters will just blab about friendships and comrades' protection then the heavens and Gods will suddenly lean on their side as they will be revamped with incredible power, enough to defeat aninvincible, still standing, antagonists. Another thing that I dislike about the characterization is that, the creators repetitively nerf or tone down the power bars of those antagonists turned good wizards to emphasize how strong is their new sets of foes. In line with this, this also occurs considering the great number of members of Fairy Tail guild, not to mention their allies from neighboring guilds. Hence, some of its characters' power are obviously minimized to highlight the position of its main protagonists. The story could have been better if they implied some bars for their power limits so people can make sense more of its story.

In the positive note, you will be attached to the story because their character development, also how from arc to arc, their power ability is increased. Throughout the series, I kept an eye on the character of Lucy, she may not be well-written, but I must say that she is the most developed character in Fairy Tail. Her magic capacity clearly has bars and limits, that is why her progress in each phases seems clear to me. From a defenseless unskillful runaway princess, into someone who saved the entire guild from Alegria, summoned battling three gate keys at once that enabled her to summon the Special Key. Even her progress in casting the Urano Metria, it has clear development. Unlike some of the characters that are armored with friendship, so it seemed vague for the audience if they are actually making forward as they are secured by this trump card of theirs.

Moreover, everyone has distinct characterization in the series. The story assures that every character, regardless of their role in story, both antagonist or protagonist, there is one unique, sometimes, weird characteristic that will mark to the audience. Like Erza's love for strawberry cake, Gray's habit of stripping, Juvia's romantic obsession for Gray, Mavis's signature of being barefoot all the time, Cana being drunkard, etc. Through this, it helps the watchers, at least for me, to establish connection and attachment to its characters, and remind them about who they are and what have they contributed to the plot.

Another thing that this story caters, it gives highlight to every character possible. Even if you are eyeing to a side character, that person will have its heroic moment where you will love them even more. The series gives opportunities to everyone, but in not confusing storytelling. Also, this series is injected with much fanservices, even in the middle of a thrilling battle, it would cater some angles that would emphasize the breasts and the buns of the female characters. However, it does not interest me, but you might see this as an encouragement to watch it if you are into this matter.

Wrapping it all up, these are the pros and cons that I linked myself with the series. I shoulder much attachment and bias because I truly enjoyed this anime, since I grew up with this. This series is best to watch when you are looking for developing journeys filled with bonds and fun friendships among its characters that is light and relaxing to venture.
