Review of Higurashi: When They Cry – Kai

What a way to answer pretty much everything in the first season in such an excellent way. This season changes its genre from hack-n-slash to a full blown mystery. I really don't like saying this but its really true, this season is why you watch the show. Watching the first season and not this you really just think this is some sadists project seeing kids brutally murder each other over and over again. Murder mysteries have a hard time telling stories in my opinion because you need enough of a cast and a good premise to be able to handle the story well with abig enough cast to not fully narrow it down. Even if you were able to narrow a certain character down, the reasoning for the actions was well foreshadowed and revealed in a great way. This season delivers in spades with a fantastic antagonist and an explanation as to why everything in S1 is the way it is without losing itself in its own story.
