Review of The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
This is a faithfull adaptation of the fifth light novel of Suzumiya Haruhi. In my opinion, this is one of the most exciting story in Haruhi's novels. It has more action, drama and (believe if you want) more sense than other stories. And the movie explored very well those elements. There are some strong points that I can point out. First, the way how the feelings of the characters are developed during movie, specially Kyon's. Second, the soundtrack (basically classical melodies) and the final song. Both fit well into story and helps the viewer to feel more in touch aboutthe characters' emotions.
Although it has some scenes are slowly developed (what makes the movie being so long), it does not make the movie boring. Many surprises appear, and it renews the will of remain watching.
The art remains nearly the same as the series, something that to me was good, and the enjoyment is completely guaranteed. Deserves a 9 in my point of view.
And if there are some parts that you can not understand well (what is pretty common on Suzumiya Haruhi's stories), I highly recommend read the light novels. In this case, the fifth one.
