Review of Bakemonogatari
Let me begin this review by saying this is one of my all time favorite animes ever. But for reviewing purposes I'll try to make this review as unbiased as possible. This review will also contain no spoilers. Story : 9/10 Bakemonogatari in all honesty is quite confusing yet at the same, mesmerizing. The story is depdendent on story arcs, each arc is about the main character helping a different character. But the story itself is about a high school boy named Araragi Koyomi whose life has become ever so confusing since his first encounter with an oddity ( a non-living god/monster that "attaches" to humans andit's effect on the human varies from oddity to oddity ) a year prior to the story. Now, he must help the other main characters, all of whom he meets as the story progresses with their own personal oddity. The story in my opinion is extremely well paced, original, and interesting throughout all 15 episodes.
Art : 10/10
The art of Bakemonogatari is probably what really caught my attention when I fisrt began watching this anime. The art style is extremely colorful, and really blows you away. The characters are all very well designed and look very original and not copy and pasted from other animes. Lastly the animation is extremely crisp and fluid which really adds to the " oh my god this looks amazing " feel.
Sound :10/10
The sound in Bakemonogatari is superb. Everything from the openings and the ending ( There's a new opening for each arc, all of which are very appealing and fun to listen to ) to the voice acting and even the little things from a pencil hitting the floor to the sound of someone skipping sound very realistic and really emphasize how much effort Aniplex took to make this anime a masterpiece.
Characters : 10/10
I really can't talk about the characters of Bakemonogatari too much without spoiling a lot. So all I'm going to say is that each and every character, even the ones that don't get much screen time are all unique in their own ways. No two characters are near the same, in fact, the characters are so well developed that after watching this, you feel as if you kinda know them... in real life. That's all I'm going to say, but trust me the characters in this show are so fun to watch and leaves you wanting to see them more.
Overall : 10/10
I generally stick to the rule " No anime is perfect, therefore it doesn't deserve a 10" , but Bakemonogatari is one of those rare exceptions for me. The way Shaft meticulously executed such a complex story with so many unique characters and avoided many potential plot holes while keeping the show well paced and never boring really blows my mind. Plus the art and sound are some of the best I've ever seen/heard. This anime, in all honesty is an amazing masterpiece and is a must watch for all anime enthusiast.
