Where to start? This right here is this generation's Garzey's Wing, Mad Bull 34, Angel Cop, etc. - sans the gore, of course. It's the perfect storm of shit, it's the epicenter of where complete and utter ridiculousness collides with joyfull incompetence in EVERY DEPARTMENT. I don't even know what people expected from this series - it's awesome chepo-toku-schlock about a highschool girl that sounds like a 45-year-old talking like a 5-year-old (because she IS actually voiced by a 40-year old woman) and fights aliens with a magical hoola-ring. And that's it. Everything that follows this (stupid yet effective) premise is just balls-out-batshit insanity thrown atyou in every damn frame. And it's glorious in every way. The most amazing thing about all that crazy stuff is the fact that the series still keeps a big-ass smile on its face whilst beating you over the head with its mediocre-at-best art design, its gleefully shitty fight choreography and its downright HORRENDOUS voice acting. Pepper it with a ton of random moments thrown in there for the sake of "story" telling (pfff...) and you get yourself an experience that is difficult to describe in words.
Is it bad? Yes, hell yes, under normal circumstances I'd even dare say it sucks ass. But the aforementioned big smile that's visible in every insane frame won me over in he end.
I love this show. I really, truely do. Please make a baby, Namco.
