Review of Vinland Saga Season 2

I signed up to MAL just to write this. I don't think I've ever written a review anywhere online. A little about me - I'm late thirties and a father. I read vinland saga up to just past season 2 of the anime before season 1 of the anime came out. I enjoyed season 1 and found the expression of rage, revenge and historical fiction of the vikings really great. I felt that Thors and Thorfinns story was done justice. But just like how Ender's game was only written as a setup for Speaker for the Dead I feel in a way that season 1is basically a brilliantly done setup for season 2. Season 2's pace is slower, more contemplative, and has much more depth. I cried multiple times throughout, was glued to the screen through every episode watching Thorfinns inner journey unfold.

If you have watched season 1 please go watch season 2 now. For me, Vinland Saga is a brilliant anime to share with people who aren't into anime, and any fathers out there it's an inspiring tale of strength and love. For any teenage boys out there it could be a wholesome, introspective look at what it means to be human, and hopefully can give you some inspiration to go out there and find your value system and strive to live by it.
