Review of Solo Leveling Season 2: Arise from the Shadow
Yes, another anime with an invincible protagonist. Reason why I didn't bother watching when s01 came out. But, I decided to give it a go 'cuz of all the hype it was getting. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised! The story / characters just hits different. And I'm glad I didn't watch when it when it came out, 'cuz I was able to binge seasons 1 & 2, which is my preferred way of watching seasonal anime anyway. Season 1 laid a solid story/character foundation and the art/animation was good. But Seaon 2, Holy cow!! Please give these sketch artists/animators a bigfat raise! Hell, give everyone involved in this project a pay raise and bonus!
Amazing detail in art/animation spectacular eye candy! (simmering black smoke, simmering glowing blue/red from the shadow army, light/shadow effects, dynamic action sequences). Immersing story and action GALORE backed by foundation laid out from season 1 and likable characters. Eng voice actors are spot on for each character too (Tusk with a Portuguese accent).
This isnt an anime that will spark conversations for its' elegance in its' side characters' dpeth and distinctive story (They just have to look good and be likable. Think of it as an '80's Jackie Chan movie, his prime decade. You go see a Jackie film because he's a comedic, ACTION performer/film maker/stuntman/stunt & fight choreographer virtuoso (One take, no cut incredible action scenes. And the take used in the film is most likely the 100th take) Same with Solo Leveling, you watch it because of Jinwoo Sung's badassery, the action, art/animation quality and it's just SUPER DUPER FUN to watch. And, the story is no slouch by any means, it's actually damn good.
Incredibly enjoyable watch and great fkn ride!! Simply epic (Story, art, animation, action, opening sequence and OST)
Rating= 10+
*If you own a Quest 2, watch it in a big movie screen!
Made me watch season 3 via narrated Manhwa on YT. Watching narrated Ragnarock Jinwoo junior manhwa every week is a treat.
