The “banished from the heroes’ party” could be called one of the top fantasy tropes currently. While it is an interesting story mechanic, it is way too saturated and now requires distinctly unique story elements to standout. With this in mind, would I recommend Makentsukai no Moto Shounenhei wa, Moto Tekikanbu no Oneesan to Issho ni Ikitai? If you are well versed in the fantasy genre, then you could read it just to pass the time but if you are looking for something unique, fresh, and satisfying to read then no. Intro 4/10: The setup for a banishment plot needs to make sense and actuallycaptivate the reader. This does not happen. The setup for the banishment is very short and feels rushed. Also the reasoning for the banishment is very lazy and wouldn’t make sense for the fantasy world that the author set up. One more observation that feels important to mention, is that this story could still exist without the banishment plot even being included.

Story and Characters 5/10: The strongest aspect of this story is the MC Seto. Seto is set up to be a child soldier, who is now given the opportunity to live for himself. Seto is clumsy and lacks common sense, which should have been focused on more. The FMC is Satis who is a former leader of the Demon King army. Setis acts as the fanservice for the series more then anything. The manga does set up several plots but Seto’s plot is the only worthwhile one.

Art 3/10: The art can be broken down into three different types: 3D objects, real pictures, and hand drawn. 3D objects are used as a crutch for background building and furniture. Real pictures edited are used for nature and mountains. The characters are hand drawn for the most part and some other aspects like animals are also. The combination of these three techniques create a rather messy finished product and just comes off as lazy in certain parts. One other point to add is that in some panels it feels like there is just open space left unused.

Conclusion 5/10: One of the most important aspects of a story is a conclusion. If a good story has a bad conclusion, it brings your overall experience down a lot. For this manga, I believe that it was axed. One of the major problems with an axed story is that it causes several problems: rushed ending, loose ends, and abrupt events happening. Sadly this story is affected by these problems.

Overall 4.3/10
