Ultimately this is a reasonably solid book. An enjoyable afternoon's read. However, the amount of sexual content inside is thoroughly undersold both by the synopsis on the book itself as well as all mentions currently available on the internet. While the amount of sexual content diminishes over the course of the series, being little more than a footnote in the third volume, it is rather excessive in the first volume. Additionally, this book has one of the flimsiest justifications for two characters having sex I have ever encountered. Setting aside the consent issues inherent in the choice between having sex with someone and dying, theidea that humans are inherently allergic to magic but that exchanging bodily fluids is an effective treatment is just patently absurd.
