What started with a skeptical first impression of a title, A Place Farther than the Universe became a force to be reckoned with. Starring typical high school girl characters - one who wants to make most of her youth, a bullied teenager who is dead set on her goal, a part-timing deviant, and a clueless idol - the series was able to transform, or rather, intimately reveal from what is seemingly normal into the extraordinary. The plot is sweet and simple; it follows the story of the main characters who want to go to Antartica. Precisely because of how straightforward it is, the story tellingis able to flesh out the beauty of their every day. The audience is faced with their real-to-life (can’t exactly say everything that happened is plausible but nothing’s impossible, I guess) struggles working together toward that somewhat unreachable common goal and their exhilarating new experiences. Viewers bear witness to these young girls’ secret desires and emotions at their purest, such as jealousy, shame, doubt, don’t-want-to-be-a-burden, happy, etc. Even the feelings of those who are left behind was touched upon, showing another reality.

Due to how authentic the characters are, their different personalities pushed and helped each other (cliche as it may sound) find the meaning of true friendship and grow up in general. The narration put it together flawlessly with the right amount of truth.
